Do you want to terminate or change your current broadband? Perhaps you have just moved or you are not completely satisfied with the broadband you have today. Regardless of the reason, there is something to think about when switching/terminating broadband. In this article, we guide you on how you should think about termination, replacement, and fixed periods for broadband.
Cancel your current broadband contract
In many cases, broadband contracts have a so-called commitment period. If you want to change broadband, it may therefore be wise to review when your current contract expires, to avoid double costs. Read more below, under the next paragraph, about commitment time and how to proceed if you have commitment time left.
There are several possibilities in terms of the termination of broadband. However, all suppliers have different procedures for termination. We at Flyttsmart help you find out what applies to your particular supplier. We will also help you cancel your current broadband if you so wish.
Do you have any binding time left?
As mentioned above, most broadband subscriptions have some form of the commitment period. It is usually 12, 18, or 24 months. So what does this bond period mean for you? This means that you need to pay for the period that applies, even if you may want to end your contract before then.
It may be good to know that suppliers rarely make exceptions regarding the commitment period. However, there may be opportunities to move a subscription, and also to transfer the subscription to the person who moves in after you (if you are moving).

Switch broadband
If you want to change broadband, it is important to keep your tongue in your mouth so that the switch between broadband goes as smoothly as possible.
First of all, you need to know when your commitment period expires and when you plan to start your new subscription. If not, there is a risk that you will activate your new broadband before the old one expires. This in turn means double costs. So always check your bond time.
Once you have canceled your current broadband, you should set a start date that works well for you. If you have a fixed period, it can be smart to choose the start date for the day after, or the same day, as your current broadband expires.
For those of you who are moving to a new address, it may be wise to set the start date a few days before the move-in day so you have all the equipment in place.

Compare broadband
If you have recently moved and your new home has open fiber (a fiber solution that is not tied to an operator or broadband via the city network), this means that you have the opportunity to choose for yourself between a large selection of operators.
